Car accidents related to winter weather still an issue

While there have been days of gorgeous weather, bringing hopes of an early Spring, it is still the winter season, which brings along with it various road hazards. Winter driving is not easy, even for the most skilled drivers. There are certain precautions that must be taken in order to prevent car accidents. Unfortunately, as seen after one of the most recent snow storms, weather-related collisions are very much an issue in Pennsylvania.

According to a recent report, following a heavy snow storm in early March, a 32-car pileup on Interstate 81 resulted in several injuries and even a fatality. It has been said that 26 people suffered injuries in the incident. All of them required transportation to area hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown. A 55-year-old male is said to have died at the scene.

This is just one of many accidents on Pennsylvania interstates that are related to this storm. At this time it is unclear what set off this chain reaction crash. Authorities are still investigating the incident. It has not been reported if any of the drivers involved are facing criminal charges.

Sadly, when driving in winter weather conditions, the only person that one can control is him or herself. It takes just one person going too fast, improperly changing lanes or committing a number of traffic violations during winter road conditions to cause car accidents such as this one. Victims of this incident and the surviving family members of the deceased may, according to the state of Pennsylvania, have legal recourse. Once the driver believed responsible for this event has been identified, civil claims may be filed against him or her in an effort to seek compensation for any losses experienced by the victims and/or their families.
