Car accidents: Teacher dead after multi-car accident

Monday mornings are typically a whirlwind of activity for many Pennsylvania residents. Many are on the road early as they head to work or school. Unfortunately, car accidents are not uncommon during this time of day due to the number of travelers and vehicles. A recent crash claimed the life of a teacher on her way to start her week of work at school.

A teacher in the Mountain View School District was heading toward work in a car going northbound on an interstate. Her vehicle was struck by another car that was also heading north. Upon impact, the teacher's car went airborne and ended up in the southbound lane when it crossed the median. It hit a sport utility vehicle that was driving to the south.

The accident near the Lackawanna and Susquehanna County lines forced closure of the interstate for several hours. The drivers of the vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital. A woman in the airborne car died from injuries suffered in the accident.

Residents in the area expressed concern about this section of the road. Travelers report frequent incidents of excessive speeding. Others speculate that there may be blind spots that could lead to accidents.

When an investigation of the crash is complete, it may be determined that the driver who hit the teacher's car acted in a negligent manner. When deaths occur in car accidents that were caused by the negligence of another person, the survivors of the victim have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A Pennsylvania personal injury attorney can help families navigate the legal process. A favorable outcome would provide compensation that could help offset unanticipated funeral costs and other expenses.
