Most Pennsylvania residents park their cars at the end of the day and likely don’t give them much thought until the next morning. By 10 p.m., many people are turning in for the night and won’t be needing their vehicles for a while. However, several neighbors in South Philadelphia were recently startled to find that their parked cars were being damaged late one evening. As a result of the damage caused, a man who lives nearby has been charged with suspected drunk driving.

Police reports show that a 43-year-old man was driving his pickup truck down a neighborhood street. Witnesses claim he was revving his engine as he sped down the road. The man allegedly struck multiple cars along the way.

One resident evidently used her cell phone to record the incident. The video supposedly showed the truck driving on top of several parked cars in the area. Some neighbors stated that the driver began to slow down after he had collided with a vehicle. At that point, a man watching the situation caught up to the truck.  Several men got the truck driver out of his vehicle and apparently restrained him until police officers arrived.

Records reflect that 15 vehicles were hit by the truck. There were no injuries to any people in the neighborhood. The truck driver was transported to the hospital and was later arrested for driving under the influence.

Charges of drunk driving in Pennsylvania are very serious. If someone is convicted, he or she could lose a license, face fines or even spend time in jail. It is extremely important to present a strong defense against any charges. An experienced criminal defense lawyer can be a valuable ally to clients throughout the entire legal process.
