No word on criminal defense strategy following drug arrests

Pennsylvania police recently arrested a couple and seized numerous items from two different vehicles. The arrests came after police claim they spotted a man attempting to hide on the floorboard of a vehicle located in a gas station parking lot. The man and the female driver of that vehicle were arrested and charged with various crimes. There is no word as of yet on whether they have secured the services of a criminal defense attorney.

Police say that, when they approached the vehicle, the man did not properly identify himself and then began running from the scene. Police caught up with him, and he was taken into custody. They determined his identity from a Pennsylvania ID card.

The female driver gave consent for the vehicle to be searched. Police allegedly discovered a range of narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Police also gained access to an additional vehicle in the same location, owned by the man’s mother-in-law. Both individuals were charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was also charged with providing a false name to police and attempting to flee the scene.

The woman told police that some of the drugs and other items on her person were not hers but that she was holding them for the man at his request. As both individuals prepare their response to these serious charges, determining ownership of the items in question may play a central role. Because the man was physically present in both vehicles prior to the arrest, it’s possible that some of the items in the woman’s vehicle did not belong to her.

Drug charges are very serious matters in the state of Pennsylvania. That is especially true in cases like this where individuals are accused of distributing drugs. Both parties will need to present an aggressive criminal defense strategy to avoid conviction.
